But, you also realize that the holidays are quickly approaching, meaning we are trying to save a little bit more cash than usual to buy meaningful gifts for our loved ones. Being a little frugal does not mean you have to make huge sacrifices in the shopping or style department, it just means you have to get a little bit wiser in what and when you buy.
Shopping on a budget is like a scavenger hunt. You are trying to find the lowest price for the highest quality good. If you have the time treat it like a game, go from store to store comparing prices on like goods. Trust me, you will definitely feel the reward when you walk out of a store, new outfit in hand and pass another store with a similar outfit that costs $20 more.
Like I said, if you have the time to devote to a shopping trip you are guaranteed to find some great hidden treasures. Stores like Forever21, H&M, Charlotte Russe, Kohls, and TJ Maxx have great bargain buys on quality clothing items for guys and girls alike, it just takes a little searching.
Another great tip for saving money when shopping on a budget is signing up for free rewards programs at stores. Most rewards programs these days are free to sign up for and only require an email address. But if you are like me, you do not want your school/work email to get bombarded with sale announcements and coupons. What I did was created a new email address that I use for emails that are not as important. By giving out this email for store rewards I can check it when I want, but I am not hassled with going through the emails when I am trying to get work done. Make sure that you check the emails every once in a while though, because every coupon will help you save money. Also, most rewards programs have a point system attached. You earn a certain amount of points every time you spend money and when you reach a specified points level you are given a gift card or store credit or maybe even cash!
